just keep knitting, knitting, knitting.
I'm currently knitting washcloths/dishcloths for our needy family (unmarried ladies) charity at church), and of course the knitting pain of my life....the sweater I keep frogging....and the lotion that keeps me knitting ☺

otherwise known as knitting projects.
I have been working on a shawl to wear to church for the last little while. I usually work on only one project at a time to make my yarn last longer :o)..and it's triangle shaped and I'm hoping will be done soon. It's made out of laceweight so it's delicate & taking a while.......I'm making this up as I go, but I do love it!
whats up next?
Side Slip Cloche from my Boutique Knits book. I ♥ this book!

dear spoilee (your daily dose of teasing)
Hiya!
don't fret, your box is coming right along! :-) I have it just about finished.....I'm not going to send it off yet, because I want to torture errr I mean make sure I have your box just right before sending it off to you! I have until December 5th to make sure you have it opened already (that's the get to you date, not the mail to you by date), so I'm figuring a good month wait......should I make you wait that long?
I can't believe some have already sent off! They are busy bee's for sure! I have one more project I want to knit for you before sending it off, because I 'heard' you like this ________ and I want to try to ______it into the box before mailing it to you.
I won't make you wait until the very end......or will I???????? Am I that kind of spoiler??? To make you wait?
you haven't really posted at all on Raverly.....have you forgotten you signed up for this swap? Or do you not have a computer at home so you can't post so I can know you better?
I'm looking forward to sending off your goodies...I hope you like them!

...time to start dreading December.
It's time to start dreading December.....or should I say time to start dreading it even more?
I have a dd that is 14, and a ds that is 13. I homeschool them, and they are just about the bestest kiddos in the world.
we are a simple family, not necessarily in the way that we think, but moreso in the way that we live. My groom goes to college & works full time, and his job is cutting back hours. We've both put in applications everywhere, but nothing so far for either of us. He's worked at this job for over 7 years, and it's just sad to see him struggling/worrying over what to do about this years presents for our children.
I knit, and I've sold a few items that I've made.....but that has gone to things like groceries and such. I'm trying to knit faster, get more sales, and thus more money but a girl can only do what she can do. Plus, this ankle injury has me sidelined still.....so I don't know what to do to help out.
I've put my deep freezer, my sewing machine, and my antique sewing machine up for sale...but I've had no takers.
It makes me hate/dread December. True I know that my children will like whatever we can afford to give them, but just once I'd love to "see that shock" look in their eyes because of what a grand thing we've gotten them. I don't know how to get there.
It's amazing we do as well as we do with my groom making just over $9 an hour. If we owed any loans or had any credit cards to have to pay for, or a car payment to have to pay for I don't know what we would do! I thank God our van is paid for, and we have no loans or credit cards......but I admit I sometimes wish I had one just to get my kids something great for Christmas.
I know that Christmas isn't about presents under the tree, it's about the ONE that hung on the tree.....but I'm feeling like a big ol' bum here, gentle readers. It's not enough that the TV blasts all these commercials of kids getting great presents (thus making the parents that CANT buy feel like heels), now they have these commercials with the adult child taking the parent on a trip......what the world? Oh great.......now I can't buy for my Dad, so I'm a bum on that side too.
I'm college educated, and have a graphics art degree & I have a techincal degree in cosmetology.......and I am making ZERO count them ZERO dollars.
I blame it on the area that we live in. There's simply NOTHING going on here for us to be paid well for. I have disliked this area for some time because of all the painful memories, but I am truly beginning to LOATH being here. Every day I feel like this place is getting smaller and smaller.......and there's nothing I can do to better that, or enrich that. NOTHING.
I made a scarf out of some nice yarn that I won, etc. and the yarn costs $13 a skein. I made it with 2 of them.....and it took me a month of knitting to get it knitted, and blocked (it was from a Victorian lace pattern) and I just sold it for only $40. Yep. That's all my 160 hours of work was worth. 4o big bucks. But, I thank God it sold because that meant I was able to buy more groceries :-) That's always a good thing.
I feel like such a lame parent. I was so depressed over things last year I didn't even put up a tree. The kids only had 3 presents each from us, and we had nothing for eachother, so we didn't even bother putting up our pittiful little tree. We were all depressed over it. Last year was a terrible year on us financially, with Travis wrecking and all.......and this year is so far running closely behind it.
I wish I knew what to do other than pray, and dread December. I know I won't have anything under that tree that my children will love. And there's nothing I can do about it. I just hope that when they grow up they don't hate me for being so lame........

okay, does this make me a professional?
I have been knitting this sweater for someone that works with my groom. Actually it's more of a cropped (boob holder) type sweater. I didn't have a pattern & I just 'eye balled' her sweater she sent here & did my best to make another one like it :).
she tried to pay me something on it, but in all honesty, I wanted to do this for charity...after all the hours I spent making up the pattern, knitting it, frogging it, knitting it again...doing the lace patterns on it, blocking it...and such...........I don't think anyone could pay me for it. I wanted to do this for her.
I finished the wee sweater & my groom took it to his job for her to try it on, and I was afraid it wouldn't fit, or she wouldn't like it, etc. but it fits, and she loves it! So much so, she is buying a lacy scarf I knitted out of some of the kidsilk haze I had :) She is paying me for the scarf..........does that make me a professional? I feel like an artist that has sold their first painting! :) I feel like an artist.....am I?

to dye, or not to dye....that is the question
this wool yarn (dk) was an ugly blue color, and I thought I may like it better if I did a little bit of a dye job on it....and sure enough!!!!!! I'm in love!!!!!! It has purple, orange, blue, brown, black, and the shade of blue it use to be (a wee bit). I don't knit with this thickness all the time, but I'm for sure to want to knit this up!!! don't ya just love it!

that's the day that 2 girls met at Jacks....
that's the night they spun some innocent yarn......
LOL
gentle friends, I had a glorious time today with a new friend!
I live in a really small town in Alabama, and I had all but given up on finding ANYONE under 80 that knew how to knit, or even spin! :D
we met at Jacks fast food, and I knew right away it was her....why? Because she had a basket with beautiful fiber sitting on the table with her...LOL. Did I mention that she had beautiful fiber on the table?
I feel like we hit if off right away, and that doesn't happen to me every day, especially with females, it seems I get along so much better with males. Maybe it's because I use to be so close to my brother....ahhh I don't know.........NE way......
I carried her some peaches and cream yarn, because no matter what kind of yarn she liked.....I figured anyone could knit some washcloths, you know? And she had brought me some beautiful fiber!!!!!!!! ohhh just beautiful!!!!!!!...and I just felt the fiber and it's so soft, and so wonderful!
add to her wonderful personality, the fact that she knits, and spins, and also homeschools her children & it adds up to her being a big deal, in case you couldn't tell from my jumbled up words here :)
we had so much in common.....the fact that I have ADD (LOL) and the fact that I get nervous in crowds, etc........and to finally meet someone that understands that is amazing! :)
as a homeschooling Mom she totally understood how my children are my whole life, and its just so good to talk to someone that understands what is going on with you and don't look at you like you are insane whenever you talk about what you love about homeschooling, or whatever.......it was just the nicest visit. :)
oh, she taught me to spin!!!!! okay, she tried her hardest....and I was so excited because I 'kinda' got it......it's just the kind of thing that you have to keep practicing, you know? And she also showed me how to ply.......(a huge deal!!!)
After I actually learn how to knit (after only God knows how long it will take me to practice) I'm going to show off my work here, but until then, I will keep it to myself, because I seem to only notice my mistakes in it now...and the OCD in me just can't let it be shown in public yet..I hope you all understand.
when you consider how huge this world is, the fact that the internet introduced me to someone that lives just a few miles away is outstanding!!!!!! God is so good to me! :)
it was a great hour, and I hope someday we have more than just 2 at our sit and knit.....even if it has to wait until I move to a bigger town to get a 'sit and knit' I will.....:) today was such a great experience! I had just the best time....thank you so much, new friend.
